Businesses are overwhelmingly united in the belief that an enhanced customer experience will deliver improved business performance. But many struggle to define the starting point in their CX journey to greater customer-centricity, or recognise the complexity of the activities necessary to transform their current experience into one affording mutual benefit both to customers and the business.

Why A Business Must Understand Its CX Maturity
The journey to true customer-centricity is not a direct one; there are many routes available to take, and some will be more successful than others in moving the business on towards its ultimate CX goals.
In determining and implementing an effective CX strategy, it’s a mistake to believe a simple focus on reviewing strengths and weaknesses of the various interactions between the business and its customers will bring about the desired benefits.
To deliver real success, businesses must recognise the various pillars necessary to foster an environment that will enable employees to provide the desired customer experience.
Although businesses may recognise some, if not all, of the operational and cultural components required to deliver greater customer-centricity, these are often tackled in isolation, with little appreciation of their relative impact on the experience, how the elements knit together, and where the priority areas to be addressed sit.
Without a clear assessment of the sophistication or maturity of their current CX architecture, organisations will be wasting valuable resources on activity that generates very little concrete return.
Our CX Audit
To assist clients in understanding their CX maturity, we have created our CX Audit, which offers a framework to assess the current condition of a business’ customer-centricity, which can be completed virtually if required. As well as generating a checklist against which to evaluate the current outlook, it can also be used as a wide-focus questionnaire to gather the views of employees across the business.
It provides key stakeholders with the direction they need to achieve their CX goals, and a framework around which to position the various business units and teams across organisation.
Establishing a starting point for the business, and importantly how it should progress along its journey, our CX Audit identifies:
-
what customer-centricity actually looks like for the business, and key milestones on the journey
-
the extent to which the business’ values are simply a statement on the office wall
-
the level of customer-centric leadership
-
how well the business facilitates and promotes individual customer-centric behaviour and team collaboration
-
the understanding of the customer’s world across the organisation.
In providing a baseline from which to generate a genuinely effective CX strategy, our CX Audit evaluates the standard of customer-centricity within the organisation, along with any third parties; pinpoints why the current state exists; determines priority areas for attention, and crucially; provides the recommended course of action to take forward.
CONCLUSION
Our CX Audit provides businesses with the clarity and direction they need to achieve true customer-centricity. Its strength is its intimate alignment with the organisation’s current culture and values. Critically, it recognises that some organisations begin further down the CX path than others, and so varies the extent of the journey they will need to take.
